My tweed kilts are made in the most traditional way - the method has been passed down through generations of kilt-makers, and is the only way to make traditional Scottish kilts.
A traditional kilt should be sewn by hand from start to finish, and should have only one person making it. This is how mine are made; this is how I was taught. I will only be using the most experienced of kilt-makers of whom I know personally, and who have been in the kilt industry all their lives.
Each kilt is tailor-made to fit each individual. My tweed kilts allow for movement of the buckle and strap, as with time sometimes the waistline may grow or shrink. With young men, we put extra pleats under the apron of the kilt, which gives about 3~4" of room for growth. This can be done to request, no matter the age.
Good quality leather straps are used, and a good quality canvas is used for the support of the kilt - with a cotton lining for the inside.
Each tweed kilt can be made to the pattern, or the strip on the sett, this is a individual choice for each customer to decided when ordering their tweed kilt
Each kilt comes with a free pair of flashes which match the tweed of the kilt, and are given for free.
Please note that, for a waist of more than 42", 9 yards of cloth will be required. Should this be necessary, an extra £50 will be charged. If your chest size is over 46", the Prince Charlie jacket will cost an additional £30.
